We had lots of fun in second grade dressing up each day! The student council created fun ways for us to show school spirit and most of our second graders participated, along with their teacher! While dressing up, we kicked off our Animal Kingdom's unit. This week was focused on Amphibians. We researched important information about amphibians and created posters to present to each other. Students are getting so comfortable reading and presenting in front of their peers. I can't wait for them to begin presenting to other EABH classes, which should be set-up shortly. On Wednesday students went into the computer lab where I showed them a virtual frog dissection. Students were informed ahead of time what would happen, and were allowed to cover their eyes at parts they did not want to see. Only two students averted their eyes! The program was not gruesome and really explained why it is important for humans to see what is inside animals such as frogs. We had a wonderful class discussion following this virtual experiment in which everyone participated! We also worked on greater than or less than in Math, and students were grouped together to created a skit regarding these Math words. They turned out great! Everyone had their own parts, lines, props and really taught the class in their own way. Excellent job second grade!
