This week has been filled with hands-on activities. We took our own fingerprints, to see if they were different from our friends, and to see if they were similar to our families. Many students reported that their fingerprints had very similar patterns to their parents and siblings. Students then took the information we found about fingerprints, to create a class graph. We found out that many more students have a Whorl or Loop pattern than an Arch or Tented Arch. Next student created their own tally graphs and surveyed each other. Examples of graphs were: Which continent did your ancestors come from, What color eyes do you have, and How many people are in your family. In technology, students drew and created their own family trees, all on the computer! Students took the information from the family trees they filled out at home, then transfered the information on to the computer to create a cool teachnological looking family tree. Finally, students have been bugging me to show them how I won dance trophys, by giving them a show! Instead of having them sit and watch me, I decided to teach them a dance and a song. The chosen song is We Are Family! We use a version I found on YouTube from the movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks. Boy oh boy, your children can dance! They not only learned my choreography and the words to the song, they started helping me create choreography as well! We are looking forward to showing our moves to some other classes next week!
