Since our first unit is on Family, we have been doing everything Family related! In Science this week, we studied genetics and physical traits between families. Our students came up with many great ideas, so we charted them in our journals together. We discussed how we get genes from both of our parents, and how some genes are dominant and some are recessive. Ask your child which of their genes are dominant or recessive!
We wanted to see how families around the world were both similar and different to our own families, so each table group looked at two pictures of two very different families, and recorded their findings in a Venn Diagram.
Next, each table group presented their findings to the class. They showed us their two families' pictures, then told us what physical and personal traits were the same, and what were different.
