Today was a wonderful reading day! First, we had Rebecca Mazzu come in to read a story to the 2nd and 1st graders. Next, we read stories with our 1st grade reading buddies.
Today in class we discussed the attack on the World Trade Centers on 9-11-01, and how life has changed since then. We watched a few videos on the attack, as well as video from the opening of the memorial on 9-11-2011, where the trade centers used to stand. Students were open-minded, inquirers and caring during our discussion. We wrote journals, had informal discussions, and answered questions. This was a difficult topic to discuss, but the 2nd graders handled it with ease. Here are a few of the videos we watched today in class: Brazilian Independence Day was a hit! Students loved coming into school with their yellow, green and blue clothing on. We also put paint on our faces to get more into the spirit.
