After hearing about the devastating floods in Houston, TX I came across a wonderful program called Adopt A Classroom. I have been specifically matched with Mrs. Robinson, a first grade teacher at a Title I school. As most teachers, she spent all summer getting ready for her new little first graders, only to have all her hard work, effort, time, and money be completely washed away. I am collecting donations for her as she starts to work on rebuilding her classroom. Right now, Mrs. Robinson is not even able to get into her school, but she is hoping we are able to provide some basic supplies for she and her students. Even when the school is cleaned out and ready for students, the priority is obviously to homes and most of the money donated from big organizations will be directed towards other things so I really hope you can help me help another first grade classroom.
If you are able to donate any of the supplies below please bring them to my classroom or the office at RHD. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Radio with USB
Expo Markers and Erasers
Construction paper-all colors
Primary lined writing paper
White printer paper
Books for First Grade level
Small White Boards
Cleaning Supplies-natural wipes and paper towels
Welllllll we did our best effort to watch the eclipse with our fancy solar glasses, but the PG fog got in our way! We still enjoyed being outside, imagining it all happening above us, and simply looking at the sun through the glasses is pretty cool on its own! We did get to watch some videos from NASA about the total eclipse and our friend Max brought in a family video from their road trip to Oregon for the viewing!
PHEW! The first week is over and oh my goodness I slept well last night! Your students are wonderful, inquisitive, and very active! We did lots of fun things already and I feel like this year is going to be a special one!
