Today we learned the difference between FACT and FICTION by way of Christopher Columbus. We discussed the confusion of "indians" vs. Native Americans, the mistakes Columbus made and the ways those fictitious stories have molded our lives.
We also made spyglasses and went outside to explore. After exploring the school grounds, we wrote journals about their new discoveries.

Next, we discovered some different ways to make things buoyant. In small groups students molded a small boat out of clay and through trial and error discovered that the size and shape of the boat makes a difference in sinking or floating! Watch their faces go from a look of defeat, when their hard work sinks to the bottom, then to pride, when their boats float!! (even if it was only floating for a few seconds!)
