Creating spooky stories with magnets
iPad games with a partner
Reading Halloween books with witch fingers
Tracing our "star ceiling words" with witch fingers
This has been one of my favorite activities so far. We were learning about genetics and how relatives look like each other but also have different traits. when looking at photos in books, students weren't as interested. So I asked multiple teachers to provide pictures of themselves, and one of their relatives. I put these photos on the board. Teachers on top, relatives on the bottom, all mixed up. Students then took their clipboards around the room and found traits which matched a teacher to their relative and wrote reasons why. I was shocked by how many they got correct, and thrilled by the insightful answers.
