We drew under water scenes with crayons, then colored over them with water color. The end result was beautiful!
Pajama Day is always a hit! Today we did a fun centers games which involved number recognition and addition, and created our snow globes using q-tips to paint.
For our transportation unit, students turned a box, into a moving vehicle. First they wrote about their design in their journal, then got to work, without any help from me! They spent a day deciding who would be responsible for which parts of the "vehicle". The following day they painted, then used scrap pieces of paper to create the part of their vehicle, and finally got to take it outside and drive it. Each Tuesday, we also get to work with our 2nd grade buddies! We are
so lucky that so many older students want to work with us! I read the story, "There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly" to the whole class. Then we used the October words we have been studying and created our own Old Lady who swallowed "october things". Labeling is so important in this stage of writing, so this was an easy way to sneak it in! |
